I only managed to make it to four this week, I couldn’t think of a lot of books with a memorable first sentence.
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a young man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin.
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that this is one of the greatest first sentences ever I love this book so much! There’s so many great quotes in it.
“Blue Sargent had forgotten how many times she’d been told that she would kill her true love” – The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
This book immediately come to mind when I read this weeks prompt, The Raven Cycle is one of those series grabbed my attention from the very beginning.
“It is the first day of November and so, today, someone will die.” – The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
Maggie Stiefvater is an amazing writer who clearly knows how to write a great first sentence.
“The end of the world started when a pegasus landed on the roof of my car.” – The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #5) by Rick Riordan.
There will probably be lots of Rick Riordan books on people’s lists today the first sentences in his books are always amusing.
